Fuel Your Recovery With Grass-Fed Whey Protein Isolate
Protein is one of the three macronutrients and is essential for not only muscle growth and repair but also health in general. Although protein is naturally found in several foods, such as chicken, beef, eggs, and fish, it’s incredibly difficult to consume enough protein on a daily basis from whole food alone.
Fortunately, protein powders are readily available, versatile, tasty, affordable, and a convenient way to increase your protein intake. However, not all protein powders are created equal.
The majority of protein powders on the market are filled with low-quality protein, cheap carbohydrates, artificial ingredients, and/or oils that make them taste phenomenal, yet destroy your gastrointestinal system. If the protein powder you’re currently taking is doing more harm than good, it’s time to make the switch to Farm Fed, and here’s why…
Farm Fed is a cold-processed, micro-filtered 100% grass-fed whey protein isolate that’s naturally flavored, low-fat, gluten-free (except s’mores), non-GMO, and antibiotic & RGB/RBST-free.
Since Farm Fed uses the purest protein sources on the market, it’s rich in naturally occurring essential amino acids (EAAs) and branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) and never amino-spiked! Each serving of Farm Fed contains approximately 100 calories, 22 grams of protein, and 2.2 grams of leucine.
Using a 100% grass-fed whey protein isolate already sets Farm Fed apart from most of the competition, but we didn’t stop there because our hard-working customers deserve more!
Farm Fed also contains a patented enzyme blend called DigeSEB® Plus, which contains:
Protease I & II
Supplementing the body’s natural enzyme production with a digestive enzyme blend promotes digestion and increases the absorption of nutrients. Unlike antacids or some prescription drugs, DigeSEB® doesn’t just neutralize stomach acid or slow the digestive process, it directly addresses the causes for digestive discomfort. Needless to say, with the combination of 100% grass-fed whey protein isolate and digestive enzymes, Farm Fed is the pinnacle of protein powders.
Farm Fed is ideally used post-workout to fuel recovery. However, it can also be added to your favorite recipes and taken throughout the day to increase your daily protein intake.
100% Grass-Fed Whey Protein Isolate
Every serving of Farm Fed contains 22 grams of protein coming solely from 100% grass-fed whey protein isolate. Whey is a naturally occurring protein that’s found in dairy products, such as milk, and is produced as a byproduct of cheese manufacturing. Whey protein can be further processed to form either whey protein concentrate or isolate.
Farm Fed only uses whey protein isolate (WPI) is because it’s at least 90% protein, whereas whey protein concentrate (WPC) contains anywhere from ~30 to 80% protein. In other words, WPI is the purest form of whey protein on the market.
Furthermore, WPI is extremely low in lactose, a milk sugar that can cause gastrointestinal issues, fat, carbohydrates, and calories. Whereas, WPC contains much higher amounts of fat, sugar, carbs, and calories.
WPC is cheaper than WPI, so the majority of protein powders contain that as opposed to WPI. Essentially, it’s a clever way for other brands to cut costs, but that goes against everything Axe & Sledge believes in.
Instead of creating another low-quality protein powder, Axe & Sledge sourced the highest quality whey protein isolate that we could find. Our premium whey protein isolate comes from cows that are 100% grass-fed and not treated with any synthetic hormones or antibiotics, such as RBST or RBGH.
Since grass-fed cows are generally healthier than grain-fed cows, they produce much high-quality milk. Grass-fed whey protein isolate may be more expensive, but to us, it’s worth every penny since our customers are getting a superior product.
Farm Fed is naturally rich in essential amino acids and branched-chain amino acids, which are paramount for muscle growth. Furthermore, Farm Fed is easy to digest and rapidly absorbed, making it the perfect supplement for post-workout to fuel recovery.
DigeSEB® PLUS is a proven and effective enzyme blend developed by Specialty Enzyme & Probiotics. DigeSEB® is included in Farm Fed to significantly improve the digestion and absorption of all the nutrients. Digestive enzymes are essential for digestive health and supplementing with them can reduce the risk of gastrointestinal issues, such as gas, bloating, and heartburn.
Here’s an overview of the substrate that each enzyme helps break down:
Amylases - breaks down starches (complex carbohydrates)
Lactase - breaks down lactose (milk sugars)
Proteases - breaks down protein
Lipase - breaks down lipids (fats)
Cellulase - breaks down cellulose (a polysaccharide in plants)
HemiSEB® (hemicellulase) – breaks down hemicellulose (found in plants)
Cellulase – breaks down cellulose (found in plants)
Invertase – breaks down sucrose (table sugar)
Diastase – breaks down starches (complex carbohydrates)
Since Farm Fed uses a 100% grass-fed whey protein isolate, you should have no gastrointestinal issues. But in case you consume other foods alongside Farm Fed, then these enzymes will enhance the digestion process.
To complement the DigeSEB® Plus, Farm Fed also has papain, a proteolytic enzyme that’s naturally found in papaya. Papain will further help break down the protein supplied by Farm Fed into individual amino acids and peptides so it’s easier for the body to digest, absorb, and utilize. This is yet another ingredient that sets Farm Fed apart from the competition.
These ingredients are used in small amounts to improve the flavor, mixability, and consistency of Farm Fed:
Medium Chain Triglycerides (creamer)
Xanthan Gum (thickening agent)
Sunflower Lecithin (emulsifying agent)
Keep in mind that this list will vary slightly from flavor to flavor. For example, the Chocolate Milkshake Farm Fed will also have cocoa powder.
