Powerlifting and bodybuilding are two of the most popular styles of resistance training on the planet. They share many similarities, but there are some key differences between the two training styles that you should be aware of!

Powerlifting vs Bodybuilding Explained
Key Takeaways
Powerlifting involves lifting as much weight as possible for 1-5 reps, minimal machines, and a big focus on the bench press, squat and deadlift with some accessory work added in.
Whereas bodybuilding is all about stimulating the muscle in order to get it to grow, which usually involves higher volume and higher-rep training. Many bodybuilders still squat, bench, and deadlift, but they do a lot more machine and isolation work.
Sammy Flecker is a powerlifter that loves to lift heavy weights for lower reps. Whereas Annie Mae Kelley is a wellness competitor that prefers higher volume training, but she still lifts as heavy as possible.
And as for Dean... well he's in the gym sometimes...
