Josh Porter, aka Sir Jumps A Lot, is a Parachute Rigger for the United States Army. In case you’re unfamiliar, a Parachute Rigger is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and packing parachutes to ensure safe & effective jumps. Let’s just say… Josh has likely jumped out of more airplanes than you can count. Josh was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, but he now resides in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
In addition to jumping out of planes and serving for our country, Josh enjoys lifting heavy weights, gaming, dogs, sushi, caffeine, and making hilarious videos on social media. If you’ve ever watched The Titan Games on NBC, then Josh may look familiar.. Josh was a participant on the show during Season 2 and made quite the run against some fierce competition.

Where are you from?
I was born & raised in Jacksonville, Florida.
I currently live in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
When did you join the Army and how long have you served for?
I joined the United States Army when I was 17 years old. So far, I have served for a total of 12 years as a Parachute Rigger.
What made you decide to join the United States Army?
My grandpa served in the military and ever since middle school, I knew that I wanted to join the Army as soon as I could.
How many times have you jumped out of a plane?
I have jumped out of a plane approximately 2,000+ times.
You were recently on The Titan Games, what was your favorite moment from that experience?
After winning the first two competitions, I got to bro-hug Dwayne “The Rock" Johnson, and that was by far my favorite moment from participating in The Titan Games.
What got you interested in lifting weights?
Although I played soccer & lacrosse through high school, I didn’t start lifting weights until I was about 19 years old. At the time, I was deployed and didn’t really have anything better to do. The gym became an outlet for me.
What’s your training schedule look like?
Currently, I am doing a combination of bodybuilding & powerlifting, so my split is Push, Pull, Legs, Off, Repeat.
What are your personal bests for the squat, bench, and deadlift?
Back Squat: 555 lbs
Front Squat: 500 lbs
Deadlift: 765 lbs
Bench: 365 lbs
What’s your favorite body part to train?
My favorite body part to train is legs.
What’s your favorite lift?
Squats & Deadlifts… I can’t just pick one.
What does your diet consist of?
I am not super strict with my diet, I don’t track macros or calories for example. But on a good day, I eat around 5 meals per day and stick to minimally processed, nutrient-dense, whole foods.
When it comes to nutrition, my primary goal is to consume enough calories and protein to support performance, recovery, and health. I don’t want to be in a caloric deficit unless my goal is fat loss because that’s not advantageous for gaining strength or building muscle.
What’s your go-to cheat meal?
My go-to cheat meal is definitely sushi.
What are your main hobbies outside of the gym?
When I am not lifting, I enjoy jumping, gaming/streaming on Twitch, kayaking, and surfing.
What’s your top goal at the moment?
My primary goal is to start my own business, I am not sure exactly what it will be, but I want something that I can all my own.
